FARMED FRESH WATER FISH Sumatra
Lake Toba is a large natural lake in Sumatra, Indonesia occupying the caldera of a super volcano. The lake is located in the middle of the northern part of the island of Sumatra. The lake is about 100 kilometres (62 miles) long, 30 kilometres (19 mi) wide, and up to 505 metres (1,657 ft) deep. The deep freshwater reservoirs at Lake Toba allow for premium farmed freshwater fish using floating net cages. Red or Black Tilapia is the primary specie of farmed fish, but many other species of native fresh water are available including Catfish, Guramy, Basa (Pangasius bocourti), Snakehead (Channa striata), European carp (Cyprinus carpio), and the giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy).
DSA has plants that specialize in freshwater fish production. Main products are WGGS and skinless fillets.
